Transcript of Meeting: CAIN Institute Conference Room B

In Attendance:

DR. SUSAN JENNER (CAIN PROJECT DIRECTOR)

AMY MORROW (ASSISTANT TO DR. JENNER)

STF. SRGNT. JASON ESSEX, USMC

Dr. Jenner: Sergeant Essex, if you could state your name and rank for the record, please.

SSG Essex: Staff Sergeant Jason Essex, United States Marine Corps.

Dr. Jenner: Thank you. As per our discussion, your assignment will be to monitor an enclosure for eight weeks. You will be alone in the facility. Please verbally acknowledge these instructions by repeating them back in your own words.

SSG Essex: I understand I am to monitor an enclosure for eight weeks, and I will be alone in the facility during that time.

Dr. Jenner: During that time, you will not be allowed to leave the facility, and no outside visitors are permitted, including any such person who presents themselves as a member of this research team, family or friends, or anyone you may recognize from the United States Marine Corps. Please verbally acknowledge these instructions by repeating them back in your own words.

SSG Essex: During the length of my assignment I am not permitted to leave the facility, and no one is to be given entrance, including anyone from the research team, my family or friends, or the United States Marine Corps.

Dr. Jenner: During the assignment, you will be in isolation. Your sole purpose is to enter the enclosure holding area and record three measurements once per day. Please verbally acknowledge these instructions by repeating them back in your own words.

SSG. Essex: During my assignment, I will record three measurements once per day in the enclosure holding area. I will be in isolation during the length of my assignment.

Dr. Jenner: After this interview, you will be permitted inside the enclosure’s holding area. You will be asked to describe exactly what you see. Please acknowledge these instructions by repeating them in your own words.

SSG Essex: Once admitted into the enclosure’s holding area, I will be asked to describe what I see.

Dr. Jenner: Before admittance, you will swear upon penalty of court martial that you will make no attempt to speak to, or otherwise engage, anything in the room that is not my assistant, Amy Morrow, who will be standing on your right. Please acknowledge these instructions by repeating them back to me, verbatim. I will repeat them again.
